Subaru's 6-speed manual transmission (TY856) was first introduced on the “New Age” Impreza WRX STi, which went on sale in Japan in October 2000, or in 2002 for Europe and Australia. This gearbox design is considered to be the best and strongest made by Subaru and is thus a popular upgrade among enthusiasts.
